Dunga Dungwad - What a Shocker?

Dunga must be wondering what hit the Samba boys. The first time that a goal has been scored against them is also the first time that the team packs its bags and leaves South Africa.

Dunga must be wondering what went wrong. At a time when his team had everything going, the Dutch with their bald heads overturned everything. And  as if that is not enough Phillipe Mello was red-carded for a hard tackle on Brazilians Arjen Rorben.

But anyway, Dunga should take heart. This is Africa and it is proving to be the graveyard for big teams. He should be counting himself lucky he did not leave at the preliminary stages. He should at least pat himself on the shoulder for having done exceedingly well above England, Portugal and the defending champions Italy.

His star players like Kaka, Robinho Lucio and goalkeeper Julio Ceaser must be wondering what their so called superior close knitted game gave them. Balderdash!!!

Well it is not fair to punish a man who is already down, but truth be said it was an elation for soccer fans in Africa like no other. I have seen men hug men and women indiscriminately as they celebrated the demolition of Brazil.

The explanation is that Brazil has won far too many games to an extent of becoming  sloppy in the way they play after all they know that they will win.

But for Arjen and his team, it was no time to relax. It was a time to show them why they are also in the group of men after boys were dispatched home.

Dunga now has several options. To resign and have the Brazilian team re-organised or to get back to the drawing board and start asking hard questions why he left star player Ronadinho. Of course he will have a roasting from the Brazilian media for the sloppy performance that saw his team go down to the Dutch on a 2-1 defeat.

In the meantime Africa is praying that its team Ghana will go past Uruguay. It is much easier to deal with the Dutch than the  Brazilians. Anyway go dance Samba in the Brazilians streets. Good riddance. Phew!!!!!

What students did for their former Principal will leave you in tears.....

The former students of the school on the hill many of whom are Y generationers created a Whatsapp group in which they reached out to each other to come to the aid of the long serving educator. “We formed the group because we realised that Mr. Mwangi who helped nurture many of us needed help and there was no easier way than to organise an online collaboration,” said founder Mr. George Kung’u. Working in conjunction with the family of Mr Mwangi, the group consisting mainly of the class of 1989 and 1990, created a Safaricom pay bill number 775871 in which students some of whom live in different parts of the world could contribute. Who will save the poor of Central Province........

A mud walled tin-roof thatched house in Githumu, Gicici area. Efforts need to be made to improve the lives of people  living in such houses.  There is an untold story in central province. The story is lost largely due to statistical figures that claim that living standards are very high.  What with the coffee, tea and food sufficiency stories that say relax, Central Kenya is better than the rest of country. There can be nothing further from the truth than this. I have just returned from a journey I dubbed “Tracing the roots of my fathers” in which I went to Githumu market in Kandara Division of Muranga County. I witnessed firsthand how the first quartile of the population in the area is reeling under the immense weight of poverty. For them, only God knows what next and this will not be said because it is not part of the statistical mean.
